Open Water Diver Certification
The PADI Open Water Diver Certification is your gateway to the underwater world. This comprehensive course equips you with the knowledge and skills to explore aquatic environments safely and confidently. Under the guidance of an experienced instructor, you'll delve into the fundamentals of scuba diving, learning everything from equipment basics to dive planning.
This certification is recognized worldwide wide & allows you to dive independently (with a buddy) to a maximum depth of 18 meters/60 feet, opening up a world of underwater adventures.
Duration:
- Approximately 12 - 15 hours of E-learning (digital bookwork) You can work on this on your own time, at your own pace, on the device of your choice.
-one “dry” session for theory review, equipment overview & to get fitted for gear
- 2 - 3 dive sessions *extra training days are available with additional fees*
OUTLINE:
E-Learning - This is your first step, the bookwork portion of the class. We are able to sign you up remotely so you can finish this on your own time online or through the PADI app
Dry Session - Meet us at the shop for a review, get hands on with gear, get sized up for rental gear, & pick out your personal gear. During local dive season this can coincide with your pool session.
In Water training - Now for the fun part! Your open water course starts with Confined (pool) skills before moving on to Open Water. Our in water training is available year around, with our local season being late April - early October. In the cooler months we offer monthly trips to Florida to get certified. Local training typically starts at our pool onsite (can coincide with “dry session” & moves to our open water training site - a really cool refurbished quarry turned private dive facility - located in Johnson City TN (about an hour outside Asheville) Open water training can be done in 2 consecutive days or on separate weeks. Most people can finish their cert in 2-3 days!
We offer small group, in depth training that goes above and beyond PADI Standards.
Elearning
To get you started on your E-learning (the first step to certification), you can either swing by the shop, or we can sign you up virtually. Just shoot us a text & we’ll send you an invoice. Your elearning is $245 - This covers your access to the PADI digital platform, your coursework & your PADI Processing fees.

***Your Elearning is nonrefundable. You are able to take your completed coursework to another PADI dive shop to complete in water training. Elearning must be completed within a year of start date.
IN WATER TRAINING
Pricing includes 3 days of instruction, all facility passes, & your rental gear (BCD, regulator, wetsuit, tanks).
There are no hidden / additional fees.
Your in person training pricing will depend on whether you are booking for private training or joining one of our scheduled small group courses (no more than 6 - you must be available for pre booked dates & times).
Fully private Training on your schedule typically starts at $700-800 & varies depending on your needs
Small group Courses are $599 per person. We have opportunities for training locally all season long (April - October) with the ability to book available dates for your dry session, pool session, & open water Day 1 & 2. monthly trips to the Florida Springs are available in the cooler months with different pricing structure.
If you are a couple / group of friends , we can offer privately booked courses for you at adjusted rates :)
CONFINED TRAINING ONLY (Open Water Referral): $250pp (1 day session)
Want to finish up your open water training somewhere tropical??? We can help! Get your pool session out of the way with us & we will send you off with your list of completed skills so you can be free for more fun diving on vacation! Confined (pool) training available year around.

We require you have your own personal mask, snorkel & fins for your course. We have a wide range of options available in the shop & offer all of our students a 10% off discount from all retail for life! If you are only training confined with us - we can offer rental fins!

Course Objectives:
* Understand the principles of scuba diving physics and physiology.
* Learn how to assemble, use, and maintain scuba diving equipment.
* Master essential diving skills such as buoyancy control, equalization, and underwater communication.
* Gain proficiency in dive planning, including depth limits, air consumption, and decompression theory.
* Develop confidence in handling common underwater scenarios and emergency situations.
* Acquire an appreciation for marine life and environmental conservation.
Course Structure:
The course consists of three main components:
* Knowledge Development: Beginning with self-study materials provided on the PADI Elearning platform, followed by instructor-led presentations, and discussions, you'll cover diving theory, safety procedures, and environmental awareness.
* Confined Water Dives: First you'll practice essential scuba skills. This includes mastering buoyancy control, regulator use, mask clearing, and emergency procedures.
* Open Water Dives: Putting your skills to the test, you'll complete a series of open water dives in a natural setting. Here, you'll apply what you've learned in real-world diving conditions, exploring underwater environments while under the guidance of your instructor.
Prerequisites:
* Minimum age: 10 years old (participants under 15 years old may receive a Junior Open Water Diver certification with depth restrictions - this automatically rolls into an Open Water Cert)
* Physical fitness: Participants should be in good health and reasonably fit. A medical questionnaire & waiver is required
***IMPORTANT*** This is a performance based certification course. Payment does not guarantee licensing. You must complete the mandatory skills within the course to become SCUBA certified.
